Post Office Boxes
I need to dispute a debt but all I have is the debt collector's
post office box; how do I prove they received my debt dispute letter.
Go to your post office and ask the clerk for a receipt that
proves the letter was mailed. Keep this receipt along with copies of your
letter and any correspondence you've received from the collector. If you ever
have to appear in court, you can show the judge that you did respond to their
requests. You generally receive the benefit of the doubt and the burden of
proof is put back on the collectors back.
