Some years ago, My ID was stolen, Subsequently, they acquired a credit card in my name. I didn’t find out about any of this until I went to refine my home several years later. When I was told I had a default judgment for $11, 283.44 against me for the card. I called the company but all they wanted to know was when could they expect some money to pay this debt. I informed them that this was not my debt. I was told that they would investigate it but I never heard anything from them. Years have passed and now a collection company has garnished all my bank accounts. They even took all the money from my 4 yr old son’s account. What choices do I have at this point? I was never sent a bill to know that this card ever existed, never served with any papers to know that I was being sued for a default judgment. Never notified that they were going to garnish my bank accounts. I’m disable and unable to work. My only income is my disabililty checks which now they have taken from bank account. I can’t put any money in the bank to save for an attorney because they are going to take it. What can I do?
